The homeowner wanted a comfy, casual space where family and friends could gather, but still craved some sparkle for the holiday season. Working with the team at Stoney Creek Furniture, her dream space became a reality.

The Design Aesthetic. The home has a definite contemporary feeling about it, but with a warmth and ease that speaks to traditional – a beautiful blend best described as transitional. The ceiling lighting is simple and elegant, giving a ‘twinkle’ effect. The flooring is perfect in any décor setting, a rich oak hardwood with a contrasting patterned rug in ivory tones. The overall feeling is glamourous, yet still decidedly down-to-earth.

The Colour Palette. The walls are painted in Benjamin Moore Metropolis, a wonderfully rich grey – the new neutral of choice. It’s a perfect foundation to add a mixed palette of creams, rusts, golds and greens, all in warm shades that say ‘welcome’.

The Furniture. It started with the relaxed sectional in a classic grey with just a hint of soft teal, coordinating with the wall colour perfectly. With the staples in place, it was time to get creative. Two accent chairs were added in a vivid rust and cream lattice pattern. From there, one-of-a-kind pieces were incorporated for eclectic appeal – including simple end tables in a delicious molasses finish, a unique Paris hourglass table, a Paris cube, a fun pouf in desert sand and a sophisticated plank top coffee table in a waxy black finish. In contrast, the Magnolia entertainment console is off-white with a touch of country charm. These unique pieces are all anchored by a neutral-based colour scheme, clean lines and casual appeal.

The Accessories. From the two mirrors to the extraordinary lamp, the one-of-a-kind theme continues. The deer print set and deer head are totally on trend this season, but are especially appropriate during the holidays. Let’s not forget the throw pillows in deep orange, rust and teal. They are instrumental in unifying the palette of this room, not to mention being super cozy.

The Holiday Accessories. The holiday theme is a beautiful blending of natural and bling. It starts with simple basics – jars filled with twigs, birch slice wreathes, arrangements with real evergreens and birch and natural touches throughout. Nothing is lovelier than natural. To make it holiday ready, a glimmer of shimmer was added with sequin cone trees, sparkly rust twig tress, champagne coloured wreathes – even sparkly pillows and throws in luxurious faux fur.

Are you feeling motivated to get your home decorated for the season? I certainly am! Hopefully the Junior League Holiday House Tour and the talented team at Stoney Creek Furniture gave you some great ideas for your decor!
